100+ SC Women Who Care is a Sun City community "giving" group. Members meet quarterly to learn about and donate to local non-profit organizations, combining their contributions to make a larger, collective impact.
How it works
The group's simple model maximizes the donation's impact while requiring a minimal time commitment from members.
-
Four meetings per year: Members attend quarterly, one-hour meetings to decide where to direct their donations.
-
Non-profit nominations: Members have the opportunity to nominate a local 501(c)(3) non-profit for consideration.
-
Charity presentations: At each meeting, three nominated charities are randomly selected. The member who nominated the charity presents information about its mission and how the funds would be used.
-
Collective donation: Members vote by ballot to select one non-profit. Each member then writes a $100 check directly to that organization. With around 180 members, the chosen charity receives around $18,000.
-
100% of funds go to charity: All member contributions go directly to the selected charity.
